Michael is an American diplomat serving as United States ambassador to the osceorg – Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe.

Ambassador Michael Carpenter was nominated by President Biden to be the Permanent Representative of the United States of America to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe on July 13, 2021.  He was confirmed by the United States Senate on November 3, 2021, by unanimous consent.
