Prof. Yusaf Akbar
Yusaf Akbar is an Associate Professor at the Department of Economics and Business and Faculty Co-Director for the CEU Executive MBA.
Yusaf has taught at universities and business schools all over the world, including University of Michigan, Stockholm School of Economics, Shanghai Jiaotong University, Queen’s University, Canada, University of Warsaw and University of Montenegro.
With extensive teaching, research and consulting experience in emerging markets, Yusaf’s current research interests are focused on three topics (a) the internationalization capabilities of SMEs into emerging markets; (b) non-market strategies of multinational firms and (c) strategic impacts of the Sharing Economy. His current roles in the Academy and beyond include Founding Editor of the International Journal of Emerging Markets and an advisor to the European Commission and other governmental authorities. His consulting and professional references include Citibank, Deutsche Telekom, Siemens and Toyota.
